San Andreas, CA… The fabulous student actors from both Toyon Middle School and Calaveras High School have put on a wonderful play production “Seussical” after the creative Dr. Seuss book Horton Hear a Who. The play tells the story of Horton the Elephant who, on the fifteenth of May in the Jungle of Nool, hears a small speck of dust talking to him. It turns out the speck of dust is actually a tiny planet, home to a city called "Who-ville", inhabited by microscopic-sized inhabitants known as Whos……

Ryan McQuaid Wins Automotive Portion of Area Wide Occupational Olympics!

Angels Camp, CA....Ryan McQuoid of Bret Harte High School wins the automotive portion of the area wide occupational Olympics held Thursday March 6, 2008 at Columbia College. 3 local schools participated. Students were tested on knowledge, and ability. Ryan takes home $75 as the fist place cash prize!! Bret Harte’s automotive program is known as one of the best in the state- led by Mr. Overton.

Congratulations to all of the Mark Twain Unified district students who participated in the GATE sponsored Math Bowl. Scoring was very close at all levels of participation. The top five student scores from each grade will compete with scores state-wide. Students who placed are commended for their efforts. Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras County Board of Education will meet on Monday February 25th at 4:30pm. They will be discussing the Mountain Oaks Project Update. There will be also be a presentation of Adult Education Diploma's. The Board will be reviewing costs incurred and approval of the cost analysis of the salary settlement for the Calaveras County Office of Education Independent Study Teachers for 2007/08.
