Welcome to the Country!~by Charity Maness

So you’ve decided to move to the country where owning a horse is actually the easiest part of owning a horse.....Moving to Tombstone with my Wyatt has been full of adventures but none more exciting than livestock ownership. Having had cows, hogs, emu’s, chickens, bunnies, and a variety of other livestock it must be said that there is most definitely an easier way to get a meal on the table. Horses however, do not fall in the meal category in my book, and if they fall in anyone else’s category of a meal I for one certainly do not want to know about it. Seeing these majestic animals running free through the many open pastures here in the foothills, makes ones heart warm and creates a keen desire to own one of these creatures. It’s not difficult to find a horse in these parts, it’s just hard to find a good horse. After all, who in their right mind would sell a ‘good’ horse? ....

Isn't she cute?

Welcome to the Country~by Local Author, Charity Maness

So you’ve decided to move to the country where life may be just a might bit slower than you had imagined.....If you have lived here, say goin’ on four or five months now, you have undoubtedly been a recipient of our own unique brand of country type traffic jams. That would be the interminably slow moving traffic caused by a tractor meandering its way along, what anyone not living here would perceive as a country road, but we all know as a major roadway. Normally a slow tractor is viewed as just another aspect of life in the country to be patiently tolerated, but when that tractor is between me and the nearest coffee shop, that is when said tractor becomes a problem....

A Funny Story About the Little Black Dress~by Charity Maness

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 12/16/2009 11:43 AM
"I forgot to tell you a funny story. I had to go to a Christmas party for my husbands work a couple weekends ago. Dressy, city, and lots of people I didn't know. Being a social butterfly (a lot like you) it wasn't that difficult to walk in and make friends, but the job was made so much easier by a fan of yours. In my last "Welcone to the Country" that I sent to you, it mentioned the black dress that shrunk in the closet over the summer. so...In walks this lady, who I had never met, she takes one look at me, smiles a huge great smile and she says to me, "Don't tell me! Is that the little black dress that shrunk?" I was astounded! She follows my column...in San Carlos. Go figure! You guys are read far and wide!"

Welcome to the Country....So You've Decided to Move to the Country Where a Mere Shovel is No Match for What We Lovingly Refer to as "Soil"~by Charity Maness

So you’ve decided to move to the country where a mere shovel is no match for what we lovingly refer to as “soil.” The other morning I was sitting outside enjoying a nice cup of coffee when I thought I heard a small avalanche of pebbles rolling down our back exposed rock hillside. Upon closer inspection I realized a gopher had somehow managed to dig itself a nice hole for its family smack dab in the middle of our rock hillside. This got me wondering, if something the size of a gopher can dig a hole in this rock, cleverly disguised as soil…why can’t Wyatt?.....

So you’ve decided to move to the country where we have animal relocation for all sorts of animals, reptilian, bipedal and quadrupeds alike. Remember those darn rattlers I was warned about when Wyatt first moved me to Tombstone? Though I must say they are not on my list of favorite creatures, evidently they made the top of someone’s list for there is indeed a rattlesnake relocation program in effect here in the foothills. Seems that if you don’t want your curious toddler or your cute family pet injected with venom potent....
