I dont care for Spellman, but Crane is not much better.. please do your homework and keep watching.. As for Roy just not very informative... Kearney I believe did the best job.. I need to see more on all four before I can make an informative decision.. I wish more people did their homework.. this is too important to leave up to your friends, family etc..

I agree. I'm not even in the district but as a Calaveras resident I really hope you 5th district folks throw Spellman out. Divisive, egomaniacal, rude, poor judgment. We don't need a guy driven by ideology in a job that requires practical thinking and wisdom.

There is a Candidates Night this coming Thursday, April 24 at the Bret Harte Theatre in Angels Camp where candidates for all offices will be there to meet and greet, giving you a chance to get a personal view of them. Only the Supervisor candidates will be questioned and have the opportunity to let you know where they stand on issues due to time restraints.

...because so many people will drive up to Angels Camp from Rancho Calaveras. What a waste of a good debate. Not many voters from district five will be in attendance. But it will look good for the board of realtors and the candidates who won't have much of an audience to worry about.

What a joke for the people of Rancho Calaveras.

Enjoy the district three debate though.

Spellman is the only candidate who is not bought and sold. That's why he won last time and will win again. The truth hurts but Spellman is willing to tell it and that's what people want. We are sick of politicians lying to us. Mr. Spellman will win.

Spellman is not bought and sold??? Who are you fooling??? He had practically the entire Calaveras County contingent of Tea Party people forking over money left and right when he was elected three years ago!!!

This time around, even those folks realize what a maniacal lunatic Spellman really is and have jumped ship.

We can only hope more voters in District 5 realize this, too. Our entire Calaveras County does not need that embarrassing man around any longer.

Spellman lies through his teeth. Where have you been? Ask other county leaders he has sparred with, or even his own neighbors in Rancho.

He is as smooth as politicians can come. You never know you've been stabbed in the back until you're six feet under.

Google him name and remind yourself why we shouldn't vote for Darren Spellman.

Yes, google to remind yourself that Crane, Kearney and Thimas were behind the two failed recall attempts on the new supervisor who won with 60% of the Rancho and Jenny Lind vote.

They couldn't recall him so now they're just hoping people will forget all the blood letting they have caused in our community that is finally starting to heal. My instincts tell me not enough people are stupid enough to forget the Crane, Kearney, Thomas coalition and Spellman will be reelected.

Darren's doing a great job of clicking and voting for himself on this poll. Amazing how many votes he has cast in just 24 hours. Sad reality is he really does think that will work. Scary to think we have a county supervisor representing us that is that egotistical.

Apparently Kearney can never stay through a whole supervisors meeting because he has to leave to take insulin shots for diabetes.

I can see it now, Calaveras tax payers will be footing the bill for Kearney's long term disability medical care if he is elected. Great. Maybe we should elected the young fireman guy at least he will be the cheapest to insure long term.

Darren, you just can't run on your own merits, can you? Your constant flippant tone and personal attacks of your opponents give your writings away every time.

Voters choose their candidates based on their qualifications, leadership potential, and ability to be a team player. You have exhibited none of those traits. Now or in your three years as supervisor. Not even prior either.

Let's see if you can turn these personal attacks around and talk about yourself and your accomplishments. Nope? That must be because you don't have any.

Darren, at least sign your name like a respected elected official. You posted here a few minutes after posting in a Facebook political group.

You really do have a big head if you think you are going to win again just because you won by your self-professed "60%" and survived a recall. Most people voted No on the recall because they don't believe in the recall process. They believe in the regular election process and will vote you out on June 3.

So get off your arrogant mule and tell us what you have done for us in Rancho. You have had over three years to do something. But you haven't done one thing. Zero. Zilch. Nada. And don't count the school and highway sidewalk project. That wasn't started by you, and all you did was argue with CalTrans, county department heads and the school people. You actually bullied those people to put it on the highway when they wanted it along a side street that was safer. Nope. You have done NOTHING to improve Rancho.

So man up, Sign your name like other Supes do. This is not a game Darren. This is our lives, homes and livelihood at stake. You are right, I can't wait for June 3 too!!

HaHa! You're accusing people of being me and cross referencing my face book posts to see if they correspond to Pine Tree posts made around the same time of day?

Wow, the Kearney Comrades must be really scared.

I understand why you would be since after three public forums all he can say is that he was a political intern for a Democratic representative 30 years ago and he doesn't know what exactly he's going to do just yet but he's

"sure got a lot of great ideas!"

Problem is he hasn't shared them with anyone yet even though he's had plenty of opportunities.

Well, I wish you all the best of luck, everyone is entitled to their opinion but the opinions of those who have taken the time to attend the candidate's nights or watched the public television forum all have come to the same conclusion.

Being the actual elected supervisor does give me an unfair advantage since I have been doing the job for four years nearly, however I had to take on an incumbent so I'm not that sympathetic to the advantage I have.

When I was campaigning four years ago I went to every board of supervisor meeting possible and even went to ancillary committee assignments my competitor was assigned to like LAFCO, CAMRA and others that were open to the public under the Brown Act so that I could be privy to as much information and insight as possible so I could compete with more than rhetoric and empty promises.

As much as I disagree with Marti Crane on most issues I have to admit that when it comes to knowledge one would want a new supervisor to possess she is light years ahead of the other two challengers. Mr. Estakhri has never stepped foot into the supervisor's chambers. Mr. Kearney rarely attends and when he does he only stays for a brief time and leaves for no apparent reason.

When you get beyond the hype of those who are promoting their "dog in the race" it's easy to see that the only one besides myself that can actually speak to the issues is Marti. Don't get me wrong, Kearney has a better chance than Marti regardless of her superior knowledge which is a sad statement in and of itself, but I really don't see Kearney putting in the time and effort to acquire the knowledge it will take to beat me.

You couple that with his ties to Russ Thomas, Dave Tanner and other nefarious players on the Valley Springs naughty list and what you get is ultimately a well fought but unsuccessful attempt at ousting a guy who knows what he is talking about and is appreciated by his constituents for being up front and truthful despite painful attacks and slander campaigns attempting to shut him up.

The him in question is in fact me, the real Darren Spellman.

You've been fishing for a signed post so here ya go.

              Happy Birthday!

              Yours truly, Darren = )

And seven posts later you finally sign your name. You were busted and now trying to play more games

You lift up Marti because this poll shows her incredibly low votes (like you) so maybe folks might consider her and take votes away from Kearney. Nice ploy Darren. You should just stick to trying to tell the truth and talk about your improvements to our district. But you can't. You have nothing. So instead you resort to personal attacks.

You are a sick, twisted individual who hides behind a bible. Voters are tired of your sham and will prove their smarts on June 3rd.

I have known Mr. Kearney for several decades and worked alongside him for quite a number of years. In no way shape or form does he have diabetes. Furthermore, he is known as a troubleshooter....he listens, thinks before he acts, and does not stick his foot in his mouth as you have by writing your petty statement.
