These polls ARE NOT AT ALL SCIENTIFIC nor authentic as they allow for multiple voting by one or more people. Can one imagine what would become of "democracy" if this practice were allowed on election day? Certainly attendance at the Frog Jump is more entertaining with its speculative nature and less harmful on swaying the imagination of uninformed voters.

Time for the fair to end? Wow. If you grew up here, you understand what fair means for our county. Its a huge part of our history and culture. It also brings in a lot of much needed revenue. It's always been a little rowdy, but so is the history of the Gold Country.

Lack of Draw for Adults

Too bad the Calaveras fair has so little to do, or of interest for adults (who do not have children involved in the fair). One hour max is all it takes to "go through" the fairgrounds. How is it that Amador's and Sonora's fairs have more to attract adults?

    My two cents.
Having spent $200 at this years fair, and been a supporter of the fair for many years, I have to say this.
This year was HORRRIBLE. I just don't understand who the hell is running it? Less and less people. The rides are a joke, hell they don't even have the normal amount of cheap crap to sell this year!
I went Thursday, Sat, and today.

Outside of the derby, people who live here and slowly dropping off. The bands they hires are a complete joke.
The ONLY music that didn't suck was a group today singing some gospel music, and a reggae band playing Thursday night.
The classic rock band who closed out sat night at the ranch stage had to be the worst band Ive seen in years. Amateur night I guess with some black toothed tweekers on the instruments.

You would think with the ten zillion bikers in town, that they would bring in some good acts, nationals to draw the guys and gals in. But NO!
Ive noticed in the last few years, the bikers aren't going to the fair, they come up to murphys, and Arnold and hang out in the local bars or drink at the hotel.

Due to the price, horrible music, lack of rides, I think I will be skipping the fair from here on out. Shame, I really enjoyed it years ago...

      Seriously....

Beatles tunes played out of key was awesome....
I left right away, I remember dancing the night away to great music....

      What happened?

Time to fire the people putting it on. We need to take our fair back!

The bikers aren't the problem. I ride as well. I love when all the bikes roll into town, I just don't understand why there is no good attractions for adults, and very little for children at the fair anymore. Its sad.

The fair should just focus only on FFA and the animals and nothing else - and called some other name relative to FFA and animal auction - and not use the word "Fair". It is NOT a fair anymore.

Back in the day the fair was for kickin' ass and getting drunk. Children only really went on Thursday and few yuppies & minorities were ever scene.

Lets just have better bands, and more rides. Then that's the best of both worlds, the days are for kids, animals, fun. The nights are for drinking and rockin out for the bikers. Hows that?
